My AALARA On the Road journey recently took me somewhere I have been wanting to visit for years—Scenic World in the breathtaking Blue Mountains. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint. In fact, it exceeded every expectation.
Visiting with my family made the experience even more special. Scenic World has long been celebrated as one of Australia’s must-do attractions, and within minutes of arriving, I understood exactly why. The magic is in the experience—but also in the people, the history, the passion and pride that radiates from every corner of the place.
A Legacy Built on Vision and Determination
Before boarding our first ride, I had the chance to reflect on the incredible story behind Scenic World. Founded by Anthea’s grandfather, the origins of this attraction are nothing short of awe-inspiring. The grit, determination and imagination it took to transform this pocket of ancient rainforest and soaring cliffs into a world-class experience is remarkable. You can feel that legacy in the atmosphere the moment you arrive.
Into the Depths of the Blue Mountains
Then came the moment we had been waiting for—the Scenic Railway. Buckled in, hearts thumping with excitement, we descended deep into the lush, prehistoric landscape of the Blue Mountains. It’s thrilling, yes—but also surreal. You feel the history of the tracks, the grandeur of the mountains, and the sense that you’re entering a world that has existed untouched for millions of years.
Three Vehicles. Three Experiences. One World Heritage Valley.
And the adventure didn’t stop there.
We glided across the Jamison Valley on the Skyway gondola, suspended high above ancient cliffs and cascading waterfalls. The views were nothing short of breathtaking—360 degrees of pure, World Heritage–listed wonder.
Then it was time to ascend the mountain aboard the Cableway, offering yet another entirely unique vantage point of this incredible landscape.
Each mode of transport—Railway, Skyway, Cableway—delivered a completely different sensation, perspective and thrill. Three vehicles, three experiences, one unforgettable valley.
