Don the high-vis and get ready for the media scrum! It’s bump-in day and the excitement is already electric.
Broderick is front and centre in front of the cameras, talking up his brand-new ride, The Lunarix — the first of its kind in the world and brand new in Australia for 2025. It’s a double-ended, triple-spinning KMG marvel that hurls 16 fearless riders through gravity-defying flips, spinning a full 360 degrees more than 25 metres in the air.
My kids are wide-eyed and thrilled to be part of it all, jumping on a few rides for the media cameras and even joining Broderick’s grandson, Blaze, for interviews and a cameo on Perth’s nighttime news and tomorrow’s newspaper.
By afternoon, I’m back at the caravan prepping meals for the eight days ahead — not really knowing what kind of beautiful chaos lies ahead. The showgrounds hum with anticipation, the scent of hot chips, hay and adrenaline in the air. It’s showtime… almost.
