A Day @ Melbourne Cable Park

What. A. Day.

Our latest AALARA on the Road adventure took us to the incredible Melbourne Cable Park, and let me tell you—this place is ridiculously amazing.

You could easily spend the entire day here… which, of course, we did! From open to close, not even kidding!

We kicked off our visit with the Urban Climb—a high ropes challenge that had the whole family testing their balance, bravery, and teamwork.

It didn’t take long to work out who in the family had zero fear (hint: not me!), but I swallowed it for the sake of the ever elusive Mum cred.

Next up—cable skiing.

Now, I’ll admit, it was a little too cold for this duck to dive in, but I wasn’t about to miss the action. Watching from the sidelines, and after 20 years off the wakeboard, my husband nailed his first take-off—I was secretly hoping he was all talk, but not to be!

After one warm-up kneeboard session, Olivia took on the wakeboard and absolutely owned it, cruising around the cable with a massive grin plastered across her face for the rest of the session.

Campbell, our confident surfer and skater, felt the chill a bit more and made an early exit from the water (can’t say I blamed him!).

Meanwhile, Ebony and I took on our most important roles for this session—cheer squad and film crew.

Just when we thought the day couldn’t get any better, our next activity rolled around —the Inflatable Water Park.

This wasn’t part of our original booking, but with Ian’s arrival he very generously upgraded us to the Whole of Park Experience. So, it was steamers back on—Ebony and I included—and straight into the water we went!

With the sheer fear of falling in, I’m proud to say I was the only one who didn’t take a tumble (thankfully!). But what a blast! With his arms already showing the signs of a 20-year hiatus from wakeboarding, I was in absolute hysterics watching my husband try to tackle the obstacles with a little less grace than he’d hoped for.

After an hour of power and endless laughter, we capped off the day perfectly with a round at the Shanx Mini Golf Course—18 holes of misguided skill and overconfident putting.

The course itself is immaculate—beautifully landscaped with Australian natives—and an absolute pleasure to play.

A massive thank you to Ian and his team. What a treat this day was—the park is an incredible credit to Ian and a shining example of the passion, creativity, and heart that drives our industry.

Until the next stop,
Kristy
